Volunteer Support Unit

The Volunteer Service Unit is a group of civilian volunteers that assist the Fall River Police Department with City events such as traffic and pedestrian control for the numerous parades, processions and community events that happen throughout the year. They also assist the Fall River Police Department in times of emergencies and natural disasters, along with assisting with searches for missing persons.

 

Volunteers are trained and certified in Automated External Defibrillator (AED), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), rules and regulations, standard operating policies and procedures, First Responder first aid, patrol procedures, police vehicle operation, radio communications and traffic control.

The Fall River Police Department is actively recruiting and accepting applications for the Volunteer Services Unit. Eligibility requirements are U.S.A. citizens age 18 , no criminal felony record, current Massachusetts driver’s license, excellent health and physical fitness, good moral character, successfully complete a thorough background investigation and interview board. Weekend availability is imperative.
